That connects to the camera is a little cord loop thingy with a black colored plastic round bit. The "Cuff" strap goes around your wrist, and can be adjusted for perfect fit via a little silver slide thing. To connect the camera to the strap, just put the red round bit into the catch on the strap, and snap it in place. To disconnect it from the strap, just press down, and slide the little red round bit out.
The little cord is apparently rated to hold some crazy amount of weight.
